The phase page
A phase's page is where you enter its results.
A click on the name opens the phase's settings: the name, the Format, the Best of (1, 3, 5 or 7) and Delete phase. The format is fixed while the draw stands.
Beside it are the draw settings, Edit draw and Print score cards.
The tabs: Standings, and one per group. A knockout has Overview and, when places are played out, a tab per placement round, such as Places 5–8.
In a group, the table comes first and its matches below. In a knockout, the bracket comes first and the matches below it, round by round. In a Swiss system, the matches are listed under their round.
Matches and their colours
Every match is a card, and its colour says how far along it is.
Grey: open.
Blue: called to a table, no result yet.
Amber: games are in, but nobody has won yet.
Green: decided. The winner stays dark, the loser fades.
Dashed: the match is waiting on an earlier round, or it is a bye.
The small line names the round, the card code and, at the end, "complete" or "walkover".
Entering results
Each game has two boxes, one per player. Typing the loser's points is enough:
| You type | Result |
|---|---|
9 | 11:9 |
-9 | 9:11 |
12 | 14:12 |
The minus means the player named first lost the game.
Once the match is decided, the games after it grey out.
The card saves as soon as you leave it, or on Enter.
A score table tennis can't produce, such as 12:9, 11:10 or 9:10, is refused in red on the card.
With the tournament's Result entry set to "Sets only", the card has two boxes for the sets; see Tournament settings.
A number in the Table box calls the match to that table, and the card turns blue.
Changing and clearing
Any result can be changed at any time.
Empty every box on a card and the result is cleared; the match is open again. Standings and brackets work themselves out again.
In a knockout, the next round follows. If the next match has already been played, it keeps its players, and the card says so in amber.
A result taken over from an earlier phase says where it comes from. You change it there; see Taking over results.
Standings and their order
A group's table shows every result and the places.
The columns: P (played), W (won), L (lost), Sets, Points and Place.
The rows stay in seeding order. A click on Place sorts by place.
Places are decided in this order:
matches won
set difference
point difference
the seeding
Head-to-head doesn't count.
Knockout
In a knockout, the winner moves on to the next round by themselves.
A bye goes through without a match.
When Places plays out more than first place, the losers play on for their places: for 3rd place, for places 5–8 and so on. Each of these rounds has its own tab.
Swiss system
In a Swiss system, each round only comes into being once the previous one is finished.
The bar above the matches shows something like "Round 2 of 5". Generate round 3 works once every match in the round has a result.
Pairings follow the current table, and nobody meets the same opponent twice.
With an odd number of players, whoever is lowest in the table and hasn't had a bye yet sits out. The bye counts as a win, with no games.
Discard round, then Yes, discard it, takes a round's pairings back while it has no results. Round 1 comes from the draw and stays.
Change the number of rounds at any time with Rounds at the top of the page, just not below the rounds already paired.
Walkovers
When someone withdraws, their open matches go to the opponents as walkovers.
The card then reads "walkover", and "withdrawn" stands beside the name.
What a walkover writes into the table is set by Walkover score: "Full tally", such as 3:0, or "Win only". See Tournament settings.
A walkover card has no Table box, since nobody plays it.
If the match was played after all, enter the real score. It replaces the walkover.
