Pairs

In a doubles category, pairs play: you enter the players first, then pair them.

  • The Pairing tab shows the pairs and everyone still waiting for a partner.

  • Ø is a pair's average rating. In the draw, pairs are seeded on their ratings together.

Pairing automatically

As soon as at least two players are waiting, Auto-pair pairs them all at once. You choose how:

The same eight players paired four ways: at random, best with worst, in two pools, and manually not yet at all

  • Random: anyone with anyone, by lot.

  • Best with worst: the strongest with the weakest, the second with the second-to-last, and so on inwards.

  • Pools: the players are split into pools by rating. A player from the best pool is drawn with one from the weakest, the second pool with the second-to-last.

  • Manual: nobody is paired; you put every pair together yourself.

  • Pair players opens the proposal. Nothing is saved yet.

The pairing page

This is where you change the proposal before confirming it.

  • Start from switches the mode. With Pools you set the number of pools; for Random and Pools, Shuffle again draws lots once more.

  • Drag a player onto another to swap the two, or onto an open seat. Or tap the player first, then the target.

  • Clear puts everyone back, so you can pair from scratch.

  • Confirm 4 pairs saves the pairs.

Splitting pairs

On the Pairing tab you split pairs again.

  • Unpair on a pair: both wait for a partner again.

  • Unpair all, then Yes, unpair all: the same for every pair.

  • Remove on a pair, then Yes, remove: both leave the category and stay in the tournament.
