Tournament and players

TermGermanMeaning
tournamentTurnierThe event, with a name, date, place and tables. It holds the categories.
categoryKonkurrenzOne competition in the tournament, such as Men A or Under 15, in singles or doubles.
singlesEinzelA category where everyone plays alone.
doublesDoppelA category where players play in pairs.
rosterSpielerlisteEveryone you have ever entered, for every tournament.
ratingTTR-WertA player's strength. It orders the seeding and is copied into a tournament when the player is added.
pairPaarTwo players who play doubles together. Only complete pairs are drawn.

Phases

phasePhaseOne stage of a category: a group stage, a knockout or a Swiss system.
group stageGruppenphaseEveryone plays everyone in their group.
groupGruppeOne part of a group stage, with its own standings.
knockoutKO-RundeLose and you're out, or play on for your exact place.
bracketTurnierbaumA knockout drawn as a picture, round by round.
Swiss systemSchweizer SystemA set number of rounds, paired on the standings so far. Nobody is knocked out.
ruleRegelSays who goes from one phase into which later one.
main drawHauptrundeThe knockout for the best of a group stage.
consolation drawTrostrundeA phase beside the main draw, for the other players.
places played outausgespielte PlätzePlaces a knockout plays on for, such as in a third-place match.
draw sizeFeldgrößeThe number of places in a knockout. Empty places become byes.

The draw

TermGermanMeaning
drawAuslosungPlaces a phase's players in groups or in the bracket. Only then are there matches.
seedingSetzlisteA phase's players, strongest first. The draw follows it.
seedSetzplatzA player's number in the seeding.
byeFreilosAn empty place in the first round. Whoever is drawn against it goes through without playing.
draw againneu auslosenReplaces every match of a phase. Results already entered are deleted.

Playing

TermGermanMeaning
matchSpielTwo players or pairs against each other, over several games.
gameSatzGoes to 11 points, or from 10:10 to a two-point lead. Tables count games won as "sets".
best ofSpiellängeThe most games a match can have. Best of 5 means three games to win.
pointsBälleThe points within the games. Point difference separates players the sets don't.
standingsPlatzierungenThe places in a phase, its page's first tab.
rankingPlatzierungenThe places in a whole category, across every phase.
round of 16AchtelfinaleThe round with 16 players. Before it come the round of 32 and the round of 64.
third-place matchSpiel um Platz 3The beaten semifinalists play for third, when places are played out.
walkoverkampflosA match that isn't played, such as after a withdrawal. It goes to the opponent.

Withdrawals

withdrawnzurückgezogenNo longer playing. Results stay, and open matches go to the opponents as walkovers.
reinstatewieder aufnehmenBrings a withdrawn player back into every later draw.
eliminatedausgeschiedenNo rule takes the player on to another phase. Results and place stay. The players page says "Out".

Tournament day

card codeZettelnummerThree characters on the score card that fast entry finds the match by.
fast entrySchnelleingabeEntering results by card code, without finding the phase first.
tableTischA match stays on its table until its result is complete.
callaufrufenSending a match to a free table and calling its players there.
scheduleZeitplanThe order of the categories, and each round's estimated time.
start ruleStartregelWhen a category or phase may start: after another, or not before a time.

Sharing and certificates
